CBT for Teens
Evening IOP & Virtual IOP
Compassion Teens offers CBT for teens as part of our virtual IOP, in-person intensive outpatient, and outpatient care. In these sessions, your teen works one-on-one or in small groups with a licensed clinician to explore how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect. Together, they learn practical skills to challenge unhelpful thinking, manage anxiety or low mood, and handle school or family stress while staying grounded in everyday life.
Personalized CBT for Teens
When your teen is stuck in worry, negative self-talk, or “all-or-nothing” thinking, it can feel like nothing you say really lands. CBT at Compassion Teens gives them structured time to slow things down, look at patterns, and build new ways of responding. We fold CBT into our virtual IOP, in-person IOP, or outpatient care so your teen isn’t just talking about what’s hard — they’re practicing tools they can use in real time.
Step 1 – Tell Us Your Story
It starts with a simple conversation. Share what your teen has been dealing with — anxiety, low mood, anger, perfectionism, school avoidance, or social stress — and what you’re hoping will change. Our team listens without judgment and recommends whether CBT fits best within virtual IOP, in-person IOP, or outpatient care.
Step 2 - Licensed Clinicians Who Care
Next, we match your teen with a licensed clinician who regularly uses CBT with teens and feels like a good fit. Through a quick, confidential virtual assessment, we look at thought patterns, behavior, triggers, and daily routines so we can recommend the right level of structure and a CBT-focused plan.
Step 3 - Secure Online Sessions
From there, your teen starts a CBT-based treatment track from home or at our center. They meet regularly in private, HIPAA-compliant sessions and, when appropriate, CBT-informed groups — scheduled around school and family time. Every session is designed to practice real skills: noticing thoughts, challenging them, and trying out new behaviors between sessions.

Sessions are offered online in flexible time slots, including evenings and weekends. This helps teens stay connected to school, family, and everyday routines while receiving the care they need.
How We Personalize CBT for Teens in Our Virtual IOP
We take time to understand how your teen thinks and reacts before building a CBT plan — not just their symptoms, but what they believe about themselves, other people, and the future.
During the virtual intake, our licensed clinicians look at thought patterns, mood, anxiety, school stress, family dynamics, safety concerns, and daily routines to decide how CBT should fit within virtual IOP, in-person IOP, or outpatient care.
From there, we develop a CBT plan tailored to your teen and your family. When we personalize care, we look at:
- What your teen is struggling with most (anxiety, depression, anger, etc.)
- How they currently cope with stress and big feelings
- School, friends, and home stressors that keep triggering the same patterns
- Their goals and what “better” realistically looks like in daily life
