GROUP THERAPY
IN IOP & VIRTUAL IOP FOR TEENS
Group Therapy
for Teens - IOP
Compassion Teens offers individual therapy for teens as part of our virtual IOP, in-person intensive outpatient, and outpatient care. In one-on-one sessions, your teen meets privately with a licensed therapist to talk honestly about what’s going on—feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or just “off”—without having to perform for anyone else. Together, they work on practical tools for emotions, stress, and school or family issues so your teen can feel more grounded while staying connected to friends, routines, and everyday life.
Personalized Group Therapy for Teens
When your teen is struggling, it’s easy for them to feel like they’re the only one who “can’t get it together.” A quick weekly session can start to feel too surface-level, but jumping straight to a hospital or residential stay can feel like way too much. Group therapy at Compassion Teens sits in that middle space—therapist-led sessions built into our virtual IOP, in-person IOP, or outpatient care. Your teen meets with peers who actually get it, learns practical coping skills, and gets real-time support so they’re not just bottling everything up, they’re starting to feel less alone and more in control.
Step 1 – Tell Us Your Story
Share what your teen has been dealing with—anxiety, low mood, anger, school stress, conflict at home, or feeling disconnected—and what you’re hoping will change. Our team listens without judgment and helps you decide how group therapy fits best within virtual IOP, in-person IOP, or outpatient care.
Step 2 - Licensed Clinicians Who Care
Next, we match your teen with a licensed therapist who leads groups specifically for teens and feels like a good fit. Through a quick, confidential virtual assessment, we get a clearer picture of what’s going on at home, at school, and socially so we can recommend the right level of structure and the right group setting.
Step 3 - Secure Online Sessions
From there, your teen joins a customized group therapy track. They meet regularly in HIPAA-compliant virtual groups or in-person groups at our center, scheduled around school and family time. Sessions blend honest conversation, skills practice, and peer support—so your teen can open up, try new tools, and see they’re not the only one going through it.

How We Personalize Group Therapy for Teens in Our Virtual IOP
We take time to really understand your teen before placing them in a group—not just their symptoms, but their story, strengths, and how comfortable they feel around peers.
During the virtual intake, our licensed clinicians look at mood, anxiety, social comfort, school stress, family dynamics, safety, and daily routines to decide whether group therapy fits best within virtual IOP, in-person IOP, or outpatient care. We also consider which group track will feel safest and most helpful for your teen.
From there, we build a group therapy plan around your teen and your family, not the other way around. When we personalize care, we look at:
- What your teen is struggling with most
How they interact, share, and build trust with peers
- School, friends, and home stressors
